Knowledge Without Measure

Knowledge Without Measure

by RB Rouge

Intro

Sometimes I vanish for a bit. Not to hide — just to breathe. To remember what silence sounds like before the world fills it again. Every time I come back online, the noise feels thicker… more opinions, less truth. Knowledge without measure, and somehow we know even less.

“Half in the glow, half in the dark — exactly where this age finds us.”

I catch myself hours upon hours, each one bleeding into the next — the hum of the screen like a heartbeat that isn’t mine. The world sits at my fingertips, waiting. Whatever I want to know, I can find 150 versions of it, no matter what it is. Whichever version sits best with me. Feels right. Fits the narrative I already carry. Truth on demand, tailor-made for every echo chamber.

We call it information, but it’s closer to noise. A choir of opinions screaming over one another in perfect harmony — no silence left for wisdom to land.

And me? I’m about the last person to jump back into this world. To get plugged back into the mess I crawled out of. I told myself I was better off outside of it, away from the scroll and the scroll and the scroll. But just because I ignored the contractions doesn’t mean the baby ain’t coming. The world’s still birthing something new — messy, painful, inevitable.

The Noise Wall

That’s the thing about prophecy. You don’t stop it by pretending it isn’t happening. You just miss the part you were meant to play.

The Bible said this time would come — when we’d be “ever learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” And here we are, flooded with knowing and starved for understanding. The digital Tower of Babel, rebuilt in pixels and code.

But maybe that’s why I’m back. Not to preach. Not to fix it. Just to stand in the middle of the noise and build something honest with my hands. To carve out one small corner of truth — art that remembers what it means to feel, to hurt, to hope.

Because the baby is coming, and no algorithm can stop that birth.

The Bible talked about a time when people would learn and learn and learn… but somehow still not understand what’s real.
That’s 2 Timothy 3:7 — “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

What it means is this:

People would have lots of information, like buckets and buckets of facts, opinions, and “truths”…
but their hearts wouldn’t know which one was real.
It’s like having a million puzzle pieces dumped on the table, but nobody knows what picture they’re supposed to make.

And that’s kind of where we are now. We have phones, computers, videos, messages, scrolls…
everybody talking at the same time.
It’s easy to get confused, because everything sounds important, even when it isn’t.

So this world feels like a giant tower made of glowing screens —
everyone climbing higher and higher, trying to be right, trying to be heard,
but forgetting to stop and listen to the truth that’s quiet…
the truth that’s gentle…

That’s why Scripture warned us—
not to spook the flock, but to sober the fever.
Knowledge without measure is just a louder prison.
Truth doesn’t flex in the algorithm or pile up like trophies;
it comes low and light, where the floorboards creak and the heart hushes.

Go where the signal is small.
Shut the gates on the grind, the scroll, the brag.
Listen for the breath that built you.
If the voice has to shout, it’s selling.
The real thing leans close and barely stirs your hair.

Be still.
Let the noise starve.
Let God speak—
and let wisdom be the one that measures you.
